For this week’s Torah study questions, click here.

Saturday, Nov. 1 (Marcheshvan 3): Shabbat Parashat Noach / Genesis 6:9 11:32. God decides to destroy the world and start all over again, but little changes after the Great Flood. Terach takes his family for a journey to Canaan, but stops short. Haftarah: Isaiah 54:1 10

Saturday, Nov. 8 (Marcheshvan 10): Shabbat Parashat Lech L’cha / Genesis 12:1 17:27. God tells Avram to leave home and go to Canaan, which is being given to him and his children as an inheritance. A brief sojourn in Egypt imperils Sarai’s honor. Avram and Lot separate, but then he must lead a small army to rescue his nephew. His wife, Sarai, gives him her servant Hagar as a second wife; Hagar gives birth to Yishmael. Avram becomes Avraham and Sarai is now Sarah. Abraham is circumcised. Haftarah: Isaiah 40:27 41:16.

Saturday, Nov. 15 (Marcheshvan 17): Shabbat Parashat Vayera / Genesis 18:1 22:24. Avraham receives mysterious visitors and is again told that Sarah will soon give birth to Yitzchak. He argues on behalf of S’dom and Amorah, but the cities are beyond saving. Avraham tries to sacrifice Yitzchak on Mt. Moriah, but God intervenes. Haftarah: II Kings 4:1 23.

Saturday, Nov. 22 (Marcheshvan 24): Shabbat M’varchim Parashat Chayei Sarah / Genesis 23:1 25:18. Sarah dies. Avraham sends his servant to his native land to find a wife for Yitzchak from among his family. The wife he finds is Rivkah, and she and Yitzchak are married. Haftarah: 1 Kings 1:31

Please note: For haftarot, we follow Sephardic custom.
